Abstract

Humans and education, two things that can not be separated. Where there are people, there is education. Education always runs in space and time without being limited by any conditions, including when the Covid 19 pandemic hit all countries, including Indonesia. This article aims to determine the role of parents in distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is a case study, the method used is observation and interviews with parents of elementary school students 03 Tebing Karimun Regency. This study supports Zakiah Darajat's theory which states that parents are the primary and first educators for children, because it is from them that children receive education first. The results showed that in general the roles that emerged were as mentors, educators, managers, developers and supervisors. And specifically, namely: accompanying and assisting children in doing school assignments and communicating with teachers through social media (WhatsApp Group)
